Hon'ble Ramesh Nath Pandey M.P has been appointed the new Foreign Minister of Nepal. An old hand in the foreign affairs and politics of Nepal, Pandey started his career as a journalist. He was editor of the 'Naya Sandesh' and the 'New Herald' newspapers. He was imprisoned thrice for political reasons including 6 months in solitary confinement.

Pandey has had long innings in the parliament. He has been in the parliament of Nepal (both during the Panchayat and Multi-Party era) for twenty years. He is still member of the Upper House of Parliament. He has been minister for information and communications, industry, labour, tourism and social welfare and population and environment. A man of letters, Pandey has written two books and authored hundreds of articles and papers on domestic politics, international relations and conduct of foreign policy of Nepal.
