The Institute of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the FES organized a two-day regional conference on "New Life Within SAARC" at the Yak and Yeti hotel from July 15-16th 2005. Altogether 12 regional partcipants and over 50 Nepalese participated in the conference which was very widely covered by the media. Some prominent personalities from South Asia that attended the conference were Amb. C. Safi Sami, Fomer Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, Amb. K.V. Rajan, Former Secretary of the External Affairs Ministry of India, Maj. Gen. (retd.) Dipankar Banerjee, Director of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, Delhi and others. Foreign Secretary Madhu Raman Acharya inaugurated the conference.

The proceedings of the conference will be published in a book form soon.
